Quick!!! Range dilemma

Toooldtobearsed · 01/05/2018 19:58

As I wade through the debris that was once my kitchen, i need to make a quick decision.

I am moving from invection hob and electric oven plus electric second oven/grill to a range cooker.

Hob is gas, no question there at all, and i had intended that the ovens would be electric. BUT, builder innofently asked why I was going dual fuel and not fully gas....... and I dont know!
I have never had a gas oven.
Do i want a gas oven?
Help!

He was not innofent, he was innocent. I am two glasses of recuperative wine down😁

I don’t like gas ovens, the ones I’ve had have been hard to control and occasionally dangerous (when they refuse to light, so you try with a match and a small fireball bursts in your face...).

They were in rentals though and probably cheap ones. No idea if posh ones are better. I’ve got a dual fuel Rangemaster now and I love it.

Electric ovens give you better temperature accuracy and even heat. Gas hobs are more responsive that electric (although induction hobs work more like gas) which is why dual fuel cookers exist. I suspect your builder doesn't cook!

We have an electric induction range. Best cooker I have ever bought and I used to love gas.

Dual fuel every time. Best control in each area.

Toooldtobearsed · 02/05/2018 05:13

I KNEW i had it right 😁

Thank you all so much - gas hob and electric ovens it is then!

Dual fuel definitely.

wowfudge · 02/05/2018 06:50

I disagree - there is no 'right'; there is what is right for you. OP in your position I would seriously look at a range with induction hob - have a read of the thread on induction hobs. I spent years cooking on gas hobs and now wish we'd had induction earlier. Fabulous and really easy to clean.

JT05 · 02/05/2018 07:28

Induction Rangemaster, gets my vote.

Toooldtobearsed · 02/05/2018 07:57

@wowfudge I actually currently have an induction hob, not an invection....😶

I like it, but still prefer a gas hob, so that is a definite. I know what people say about how easy inductions are to clean are true, but I still like gas.

As for the triumphant 'i knew i was right', it was lighthearted you know - i have nothing against all electric, all gas, induction, convection or battery operated oven users but I am still right 🤣🤣🤣
