What should I put in this cubbyhole?

We are re-doing our bathroom & this is our inspiration photo. We will have a cubbyhole at the end of the bath just like the photo.

What should I put in it? Books? Something pretty?

😱 right beside the toilet !! Nothing 😱

Sillybilly1234 · 28/04/2018 21:36

A plant

Parker231 · 28/04/2018 21:36

Definitely books - I seem to end up with them all over the floor. Also supply of special candles and bubble bath.

PositivelyPERF · 28/04/2018 21:36

A sponge? To soak up the splashes of urine. 😛

Yeah I wouldn't put anything except spare loo rolls that close to the toilet!!

Fintress · 28/04/2018 21:37

Loo rolls

happytobemrsg · 28/04/2018 21:37

@PositivelyPERF I live in a house of boys, this might be handy 😂

Loo rolls don't quite have the look I'm going for!

Books I could read in the bath might be nice.

I hate hate hate the idea of poo books. Disgusting and give me the heebies.

happytobemrsg · 28/04/2018 21:50

Maybe a candle then! Grin

I just see that as another thing in your bathroom to clean 😁 I would do without the cubby hole .

fourhundredyears · 28/04/2018 21:52

Candles!

fourhundredyears · 28/04/2018 21:52

P.s. I LOVE the tiles

OlennasWimple · 28/04/2018 21:55

That's somewhere to keep reading material for men people who seem to need to take hours on the loo, isn't it?

I'd skip the cubby hole myself unless you currently have loads of books and mags all over the floor. It will just be one more thing to keep clean, and potentially a PITA to get to around the loo

PootlingPombo · 28/04/2018 21:55

Don't have the cubby hole!

Anything that goes in there will just end up covered in piss mist

Revolting!

fourhundredyears · 28/04/2018 21:57

"Piss mist" 😂👏🏼

EdWinchester · 28/04/2018 22:02

Piss mist Shock

This is why my house rule is sit down pissing.

happytobemrsg · 28/04/2018 22:11

All the new builds I've stalked come across on rightmove have bathrooms with cubbyholes- what a shame that they seem so impractical!

@EdWinchester I might need to introduce that rule myself

OP posts:
happytobemrsg · 28/04/2018 22:13

@fourhundredyears thanks! I was worried it'll look a bit dark but I really like the "look" of having the same tiles on the walls/floor. Every bathroom I've had has been beige walls & a dark grey floor

OP posts:
PositivelyPERF · 28/04/2018 23:16

Why not swap the sink and toilet around? Then you could use the cubbyhole.

hedgebackwards · 28/04/2018 23:19

A basket with scented soaps or bath bombs in?

AlexaAmbidextra · 28/04/2018 23:30

I’d do away with it altogether. If you have men/boys in the house whatever is in there will end up covered in sticky yellow splashes.

strayducks18 · 28/04/2018 23:35

I like the bathroom but don't like the cubby hole at all. We have a white close cupboard door about a similar distance from our downstairs loo, it generally shields the contents of the cupboard from a regular shower of piss and requires a daily clean with a flash wipe.

I think it will also just be a clutter magnet
