Front door colours

We last painted our front door about 14 years ago and it’s looking a bit tired and scruffy now. It’s currently sage green (along with half the other houses in the road ...) and I fancy a change. It’s a late Victorian semi in southwest London. The door has beautiful stained glass panels and there’s an original checkerboard tile path leading up to it. What colours would be good (especially as we’re hoping to move next summer)?

Thanks - we were very lucky that the stained glass was intact when we bought the house, along with the Victorian tiles in the hallway and on the path. Now we just have to wait for some decent weather before finalising the colour...

Red all day. Apparently a lucky feng shui colour, looks gorgeous (my neighbour expressed envy) and also makes me feel very happy every time I walk up to my house. 😊

Just scrolled back and seen your pic. Red or black, definitely.

@Katurah That yellow is gorgeous! I want to paint our front door yellow but am having trouble finding the right shade. Currently it is a dull red, prob duller than when new as it faces south and has faded. I quite like this yellow (Zinsser Jasmine yellow) but will look at f&b as well now.

Greyish blue or blueish grey is quite on trend for front doors. Stone color is also having a bit of a moment.

Ral 7012 basalt grey - google image search it

I think a dark blue not quite navy but darker than royal blue can't think what it's called. Possibly French navy with an ivory frame would work well. Still colourful but classy and would work well with the stained glass, which is fabulous by the way.
Definitely a strong colour and not grey.

What about purple? There’s a lovely purple on the vase in the middle panel of the glazing that you could pick up and time in with? Really tuck Cadbury’s purple would be gorgeous and look lovely contrasted against the black and white path?

We used Little Green Royal navy. Really nice lighter than navy but not bright blue. Even the guy who painted it said what a nice colour and paint it was.
