French doors

We need to replace the door to the garden. The current door is full length glass with a 1 foot wide fixed strip of glass down one side. So the hole will be a normal door width + 1 foot, (so about 3 1/2 - 4 foot).

So do we go for 2 narrow doors or one normal with the narrow side bit opening too?

And should the doors open in or out?

All advice welcome.

2 narrow opening out., symmetry will be easier on the eye. Apparently it's easier for burglars to push through if they're opening in than outwards (if that kind of thing worries you). Also if they open in you will reduce the amount of space inside especially if you have things behind or near the doors.

Thanks. I had all those thoughts. DH is thinking the other option so I will persuade him otherwise!

Agree with pp. Two narrow opening out.
