Craziest thing you’ve done to get an eBay purchase

Just chatting to a friend today who admitted that she was so desperate for a set of four (non folding or stackable) dining chairs on eBay that she travelled 30 mins on the train (she lives in London and doesn’t drive) convincing herself that she’d be able to pick them up by hand and carry them back on the train 🤣. Needless to say the seller thought she was mad. She ended up doing it in two trips, at one point travelling back on the train with two dining chairs in the standing area (apparently some people actually sat on them not realising they were hers!)

Reminded me of a bridezilla moment when I bought a big photo backdrop made of tissue paper that had been a window display and carried all the way from Tottenham Court Road to Lewisham on the bus and train. (It was taller than me!)

What’s the craziest thing you’ve done for a bargain?!

We bought a six seater walnut Victorian dining table in a junk shop, 50 miles from home. The only way to get it back ( there and then ) was to put it on top of our mark 1 Mini.
It looked like Batersea Power Station on wheels! I don’t think it did the suspension much good!

I bought a lovely 60s sputnik type hatstand, thinking it would come apart and I'd be able to get it home on the bus quite easily. It didn't.

While I was stood at the bus stop with it, a dog came over, cocked its leg and peed all over the base. Shock
