Totally get now why they say buying a house is one of the most stressful life events!

We are two weeks into the process, small chain (2 plus us, FTB at the bottom and us at top). Everything seems to be going smoothly.... don't know why I'm so anxious! Mortgage agreed in principle and now recommended to underwriters (good sign, yes?), independent survey done yesterday was totally fine.... someone tell me to stay positive, I'm just so anxious it could go horribly wrong.

All aiming to exchange end May and complete early June.... is that realistic?

Can you tell this is my first time??

Your timescales sound doable so long as the rest of your nice short chain is motivated.
We've bought twice. It's perfectly possible for it to go smoothly.

Thank you - I just hate the days that go by without hearing from solicitors....! Must stay positive!

At what point is it safe to assume the move will happen and start packing etc??

It's not fixed until you exchange but it's always worth doing a general sort out now.
It's hard when there's no news but your solicitors will be waiting for search results and replies to enquiries to come in. Some update as they go, others do a bigger report once they're all in.
