We can't afford to redo the bathroom as we'd have to get a new boiler too :(

So how can I update it/improve it on a budget?!

Floor is a rubbish blue lino

I guess first thing is what is your budget and how good are you at DIY?
Did you post about this house before ?

Linguaphile · 18/04/2018 17:56

Depending on what your budget is, if it were me I’d leave the white goods in place and just take out all the flooring and wall tile and replace it with a nice wide format tile floor to ceiling. This is our guest bathroom and it is the easiest thing ever to clean:

If you have a very limited budget, I would clean it so it's spotless and shining, get rid of any clutter at all and then buy some classy looking new towels to pile up somewhere on display, in a toning neutral colour. You only need a few and don't spend a fortune. The bathroom doesn't look so bad and I wouldn't waste money on a place you are selling. If you have a little money to spend, buy some more neutral lino for the floor as well as the towels. Best of luck!

I would remove the mats for viewings as that will make it look bigger, remove any clutter - pretty much everything apart from the bare minimum and hide it elsewhere, and paint the wooden cabinet white or replace it with a big mirror.

Very dated. It needs gutting. Sorry . . .

Reading with interest, the bathroom in our new house is updated in glorious shades of beige. Beige tiled walls, beige tiled floor, brown wooden fitted cupboards and white fitments. It is so drab, and I hate fully tiled walls, just do not know what to do.

What pp said. Take all the toiletries and baskets and rugs etc and hide them in another room.

Maybe leave out one hand towel and a hand wash Grin

Is this your house OP?

HebeMumsnet · 19/04/2018 18:05

OP - it looked like your address was in that link so we've deleted the post. Feel free to repost the pics maybe without that identifying link?

welsh put in a ton of plants? You can hang 'em from the ceiling.
Also mirrors.
Paint the radiator a v bold colour?
What is it with the beige bathrooms!

LOVELYDOVEY05 · 20/04/2018 12:30

Make a feature tile wall or put tiles of different shapes together so that you distract from the less attractive elements!
If it is a smallish bathroom do not use too big tiles 30 x60 max
