My 13 dd really needs some space, she struggles and has behaviour issues. We are currently rentin a 3 bed house and she shares with her 9 year old sister (her 6 year old brother is in the 3rd room). Now obviously we can't do anything structurally as we are renting. But in the house is a room which we use as a loft/storage space. It has no window and is very low height - it is into the eaves so the room is like a right angled triangle. The floor space is big but there us only really a long narrow part where you can stand up. But it is all boarded and plastered/skimmed. I was wondering what people thought about using this room to give dd extra space. Initially a small bedroom? A low level cosy bed and small bookcase, keep clothes in her sisters room in built in wardrobe?????? Or a den more with bean bags? ?? But then her siblings would use it so would it benefit us as all? Or put 6 year old in there who is smaller? Just wondered what people thought or could suggest? Thanks

I would use it as a chill out space to be shared - bean bags and fairy lights, maybe even a crap/small TV. Could be good for when they each have friends over and gives the two girls the option of escaping each other, which they wouldn't really have if it belonged to the oldest but still used her sisters room for storage.

I wouldn't make it a bedroom without a window, but having it as a den still gives them space from each other. Or you could put a desk in there and have it as officially dd1s 'study space' and she can head there when she needs some peace and quiet.

Thank you, think a 'chill out zone' with a desk is the way to go. Once the stuff in it is sorted........!!
