I'm trying to purchase a property which needs some repairs which were flagged up in the survey. I have negotiated with the vendor on the asking price to be lowered to reflect this as I understood it could take place between exchange and completion - advised by estate agent - with funds released on completion.
However now the lender won't send the mortgage offer until the work is complete.
It is some repairs to a chimney stack and gutter replacement.
Is this normal practice?
