Wickes kitchen- fitting query

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 12/04/2018 21:24

Did you get your Wickes kitchen fitted by them or by someone else?
We have been quoted a hefty amount to fit (although agreed as heard it would be very good quality), but have now been told it will take at least four months for a slot ie when the fitting can start. So am wondering whether we should get it fitted ourselves after all. Any experiences, views etc please?

This makes interesting reading - (it’s an old thread though, so I don’t know if still valid)

Wicked tried to charge me 6k for fitting a smallish kitchen. Definitely source your own fitter.

Wickes!

Mine was fitted by them. The fitter was very good and I think the fitting cost about 3k.

Honestly get a kitchen fitter yourself, will be under half the price.

A local joiner may be able to do it for you too if they are available

Kitchen fitting for a flat pack type kitchen is way over priced generally, it’s not some dark art and if you can get a recommendation I’d say go with that person.

Overall tradesman are generally circa £180-250 per day, most kitchens can be fitted in 2-6 days, cost it that way

Also factor in electricians and gas sign off if needed too remember

We had our bathroom fitted by Wickes. First fitter subcontracted the job and it went wrong. Whole bathroom got pulled out, their top local fitter redid the whole lot. All covered under the Wickes guarantee.

Yes we paid nearly £3k for the fitting and could have got it cheaper, but we wouldn't have had that same guarantee had anything not been up to standard.

Oh and ask your Wickes designer who their best fitter is and wait for them to be available. We just got allocated the next available and got the new one. For the remedial we insisted on their top chap and had to wait longer but he really knew his stuff, all the little quirks of how to fit Wickes products to get the best finish.
