Induction hobs and islands

Interested in experiences of induction hobs in islands... We're redoing our kitchen and planning to have the hob in the island, facing out into the room so it's more sociable. Thinking of an induction hob and then one gas burner for wok cooking. Does anyone have a similar set up and does it work?

That was our initial plan, but we're having a downdraft extractor and it can't be used with gas

I have that set up except no gas burner. I love it because you are facing out into the room when cooking.
I got the extractor fan which is built into the island and rises up when needed. This means that when I’m using the hob it all looks like a proper cooker and I’m not, it looks like a smooth island.

Induction with no gas here too. A big 5 ring induction hob. I love it, so much space. I would have liked a downdraft extractor but didn’t want to sacrifice the cupboard space as our kitchen is small. I was very tempted by a designer extractor that looks more like a pendant light. But in the end we got a standard island hood and it looks great. I can still see out across the room. It’s nice to feel social. Also the sink is directly behind and it is brilliant being able to drain pasta/veg/etc just by turning around.

Ooh, good to hear. We looked at a downdraft extractor as well but also didn't want to sacrifice the cupboard space.

If you have your hobs in the island, where are your ovens? Trying to get the perfect cooker/fridge/sink layout!

This is our set up, we have two stools and it's so sociable

This is ours, ovens are on the back run closest to the hob, the fridge freezer is the opposite side on that run. I find it great to use as it is all close together but doesn’t feel cramped.

I have the same as most on here. Induction in island with a down draft extractor.
And I love it.
