We are loooking to move areas but need to be within commuting distance of Manchester city centre. Does anyone live in Stockton Heath and know about the commute? I’m also interested in what it’s like to live there and any areas near by that are nice.
Thanks

If you need to commute to Manchester do not consider Stockton Heath, it would be a nightmare commute as I know from experience.
It has become more trendy over the years, restaurants and a few wine bars and is the place to go in Warrington for a night out. Property prices now reflect this and you can pay over 200k for a 2 bed terrace.
Appleton , Grappenhall and Lymm are all very nice but you would have the same problem with commuting.

personally wouldn't do it by car (no other decent option really either) assuming you mean 5 days a week in rush hour? even if the motorways have not had an incident once you get to regent road it's gridlock. try it on a normal workday outside school holidays to judge if you could do it....some people don't mind sitting in their car with their podcasts or whatever but I would hate it. if you have flexible working hours or shifts then it is much better.

Hi, I live in Stockton Heath and it's lovely! Great high street with restaurants, bars and shops plus really nice walks on your doorstep.
Are you commuting to Manchester city centre? My normal place of work is Bolton which is doable in about 40-45 minutes although admittedly that's leaving at 7am. I don't regularly work in Manchester but from experience it's a similar time - that's cutting through Padgate and getting on the M62 at Birchwood (about 20 mins to J11 from SH). There's also the option of the M56 and the train but I've not done that.
I did consider living closer to work but for me the commute is worth it to live somewhere I love. Lymm and Knutsford are also lovely.
Feel free to message me if you want more info. Hope that helps! Smile

Thank you for the replies.
Yes we do need to commute to Manchester city centre 4 or 5 days a week but usually try to get to work for 7.30 for can avoid traffic. I think we just have to work out if the drive is worth it for the lovely area
