Help me dress my windows please

In my lounge (which measures approx 13ft x 15ft) all the windows are along one of the short walls.

In the centre of the wall is a set of French doors approx 4ft wide. This is flanked either side by 2 small recessed windows which are 18 inches wide, and about 3ft high - the top of the windows are in line with the top of the French doors. I wanted the windows to be full length but it was rejected by planning.

Previously I had 3 separate curtain rails with full length heavy curtains. The room is draughty and overlooked so curtains are needed.

I ended up having the curtains on the windows closed a lot of the time. I had a set of voiles at the French doors so I could open the curtains there.

I have redecorated, my walls are Dulux dusted fondant and my sofas and other soft furnishings are cream, stone and light grey.

But I can't decide what to do with the windows. 3 rails looked messy. But I don't think i can get 1 long rail with it that looking a bit odd. I have Venetian blinds elsewhere in the house so could have those on the side windows? But what about the French doors?

Can anyone suggest what they would do? Advice on styles of curtain, curtain rail etc all gratefully accepted. P

Have taken a photo, please excuse mess.

Also must correct measurements, little windows are 2 x 4, and French doors 5ft across. Not sure how I got that so wrong!

Hi love the decor. My friend has a similar window door set up and she got curtains for the door and made a matching Roman blind for window with a kit from Dunelm I think. Though you could get ready made

I have French doors in my kitchen and just one window to the side, but just to give you an idea. I got roller blinds fitted which gives the privacy but is cleaner looking than a curtain rail across both doors as they're recessed into the frame. Also means the doors can open and curtains don't get in the way. Just closing one to show you it still lets in the light if you want but you can get blackout ones.

(Excuse the outside - Easter holiday plan was to paint the courtyard but the weather said no) Smile

Thank you both!

I'd not thought of Roman blinds to co ordinate with curtains, that's a great idea.

Likewise roller blinds, I was thinking of just fitting to the wall but starsandstuff it looks like yours are fitted to the door, is that right? That's really clever!

Yes just in the doors themselves - it looks nice and neat. I just got basic ones but you can get much fancier ones!
