We’re looking at getting our kitchen redone, the first drawings have come back. Do they look ok, is there anything you’d change?

Currently cupboards end at the window so they’re adding them to the wall, and the counter under the window is currently a desk which we’ll remove and bench will go all the way along with 4 pull out bins under for shoes/school bags next to back door. Cupboard will go to the ceiling with the very to ones glass fronted for display stuff and to keep it a bit lighter.

Wall bit between fridge and oven is the pantry. The two pillars can’t be removed as they’re load bearing, currently there is a shelving/cupboard unit between them (not floor to ceiling) and we are removing that which will open kitchen to tv room.

Island is being extended with shelves for cook books and cupboards for occasional serving bowls etc.. this will make up for losing the storage between the pillars I hope. Currently have a table and chairs in the kitchen but it’s very clunky, new design will get rid of that and have stools at the counter.

I have my hob on the island and sink where your hob is. Works for me as otherwise island would messy with pots et al as i am not a prompt washer up and i knew it would bug me having dishes about.

Do you need wall cupboards? We have a pantry and only have counter units.

You need somewhere for legs to go go if the island is having seats- it needs chunky ends though- island tops that cantilever out look wierd and cheap imo!

Is there a way of losing some/all wall cupboards?
