Painting quote-reasonable?

We have had a quote to paint after our recent building work, and looking for opinions on cost. We are in north essex/south suffolk.

There is new plaster to basically all of the hall stairs & landing (2 flights of stairs) a couple of walls and a portion of a ceiling in existing bedrooms with new plaster which will all need a mist coat, and the whole loft room with ensuite to do as well.

New woodwork, door frames, stair bannisters/spindles etc all to be done. Ceilings to be painted white, walls painted with dulux trade diamond matt. Quote includes all materials. £2100
Does this sound reasonable?

we have had a quote for carpets which works out about 50sqm floor space for stairs, landing & loft (we only have one landing, the hall is very small just 2sqm and has wooden floor, and the loft stairs open directly into the room) to give an idea of the size. 1930s semi

Get at least one other quote and then you should be able to tell if it is the going rate.

We have had another quote, but it wasn't as detailed (or official) and he reckoned about 8-9 days @£100 per day (he's a pretty much retired painter) and I'm pretty sure that doesn't include materials.

Okay - so I would go back to the more expensive decorator and ask how many days the job will take. Go back to the other one and clarify whether materials are included, if not can he provide and at what cost? If you are to provide materials, what does he need and in what quantities? You can then price them up and can compare like with like.
