How long to get back after offer?

I put an offer in on a house on the 23rd. Just wondering how long the average wait is to hear if you are successful or not? This estate agent has to contact a solicitor to contact another solicitor to contact the client. It seems very complicated when they can just call each other, haha. Or even call, and then write to confirm but I don't have a clue what they actually do. Any ideas anyone? Thanks!

I'm in Scotland.

It should not take long. It will initially be done by phone. Once verbally agreed letters will be sent. It can all be agreed in a day.

I would chase your solicitor. When we have bought and sold only took a couple of days.

I'm going to call them up again tomorrow. They might have got back in touch by then hopefully.
