Navy wall paint

Just wondering if anyone can please recommend a good dark navy for my living room? FB Hague Blue isn't quite purple enough which is a shame as I love the finish.

Valspar India Ink is much closer to what I'm looking for but it's taken four coats from a tester to get the true colour and I can't be arsed to do that many coats on the whole room.

Any ideas would be much appreciated!

My parents have just painted one of their walls in Nights Blue Arch by Valspar, and it's gorgeous! It looked teal in the tin (and went on teal aswell!) But dried really dark. Only took 2 coats because they were covering a dark red.

I was going to say Not Valspar. DS room is Nights blue arch, it's a lovely colour but 4 coats and still patchy. Maybe it was the finish. Choose something from Dulux. Or splash out on the F&B.

We've just painted our en suite Dulux Breton Blue, it looks brilliant.

You can get colours like valspar colour matched at a trade centre. I liked Mylands Blueprint, but I'd probably colour match it because I'm tight! ;)

What about Little Greene "Dock Blue"?

Ah we just did our bedroom navy last year but can't recall the name it was home base own range I think. I want to say marine but not sure that is right...

PinkAvocado · 27/03/2018 18:56

I love the Dulux Breton Blue but can’t find it stocked anywhere. That’d be my choice!

Mammabear31 · 27/03/2018 19:02

The Valspar my parents used was fine, only 2 coats required and covered well (matte finish). They did splash out for the premium (i.e. most expensive) mix though!

juneybean · 27/03/2018 19:06

Sorry it's b&q colours marine blue

soundsystem · 27/03/2018 19:07

Little Greene Hick’s Blue?

Imalldonethanks · 27/03/2018 19:12

We did a wall in my daughter's room Dulux Sapphire Salute. Two coats, looks amazing.

GaryBarlowsTaxReturn · 27/03/2018 19:23

My living room is little Greene French navy. I love it.

didireallysaythat · 27/03/2018 19:45

Dulux sapphire - there are a few with different numbers for intensities (I think we used number 3?)

Lizzylou · 27/03/2018 19:51

PinkAvocado, we got ours from B&Q (was the bathroom finish).

Iamtheresurrection · 27/03/2018 19:54

Also used Dulux sapphire salute - it looks really good, 2 coats over magnolia.

PinkAvocado · 28/03/2018 03:00

Thanks Lizzy!

Feezles · 28/03/2018 09:33

I've just done our study Dulux Sapphire Salute, and I love it - but it isn't as dark as Hague Blue.

Look at Dulux Heritage Oxford Blue - I loved the tester we had of it, but I didn't want to go quite that dark. It's a great colour though.

B1rdinthebush · 28/03/2018 16:15

Sorry for disappearing but thanks so much for all the suggestions.

I think NotMe might have cracked it with Little Greene Dock Blue so have ordered a tester.

Hi @juneybean

I'm thinking of painting our bedroom navy, or at least the headboard wall, with the other three being a light grey.

Did you colour contrast and what direction does your room face?

Ours is north facing, so doesn't get any sun. I'm not sure whether to embrace the gloom or try to keep everything white bright (and boring!)

giardiniera · 28/03/2018 23:49

I preferred Paint & Paper Plimsoll.

Chickenagain · 29/03/2018 00:15

Another vote for Breton Blue - I painted my dresser base in it - looks gorgeous!

juneybean · 29/03/2018 07:12

@MrPotatosGirlfriend ah ours is south facing and the other walls are white. Our floor is grey and we bought white furniture from ikea to brighten it even more. I do like the navy and grey combo though
