Matching wood furniture?

I have a large living room/diner which I am about to start revamping. I was given a beautiful pale solid oak table and chairs, and matching side tables. I now want to buy a TV unit and a sideboard. Should I go for oak? It won't match exactly. Or something else?

Can you mix woods?

TIA

You could go for something in a different finish, e.g. Painted, metallic, mother of pearl, mirrored etc. That will look more interesting than adding sth that is bit matchy but not quite (not t a great look in all honesty).

I would get something that you really like rather than something that matches, too much matching will look like a furniture showroom
