Estate agents...am I expecting too much?!

Not sure if I'm being too demanding of the estate agent as they are definitely getting annoyed with me!
I'm buying a property through them and am waiting for an important document. It will affect the process of buying the house and could cause me to pull out in the worst case. The offer was made subject to this information being positive. Despite chasing the original paperwork with no luck they finally agreed to do new paperwork (why didn't they do it sooner?!) Now been chasing for a week. They set promised times when I will have it by then it doesn't materialise and I have to chase again. There is no communication from them, no apologetic phone call to say it won't be ready after all at the agreed time. I'm at a loss what to do now as chasing the branch is getting me nowhere. Do I escalate to area manager? I'm never moving again!

What's the document OP and are you sure it's the EA and not their client, the vendor, holding things up?

It’s hard without knowing what it is you are waiting for. But the vendors are the estate agents clients, not you.

I'm at a loss at to what the document might be.
Can you enlighten us?

CotswoldStrife · 20/03/2018 14:41

It's difficult to guess what paperwork you could need from your vendor's EA. Are you buying in England? Because apart from a memorandum of sale, you don't get anything from the vendor's EA.

Are you sure the paperwork needs to come from the estate agent? Bar the memorandum of sale most paperwork comes via solicitors.

If it's the plan for Land Registry purposes I've been doing, I've nearly finished it today. Wasn't able to work on it before, despite measuring up last Thursday, because I've had homebuyer reports inspection Friday and yesterday. I've been working on my day off to hurry it through, but the vendor hasn't paid me for it. I'm not releasing it until I'm paid. I have learned that people have no incentive too pay when they've got the thing they want.

Mildura · 21/03/2018 09:02

Now I'm even more confused!

Me too! I can assure you Funnybird that I'm not waiting for whatever it is you're doing 😁😁
Looks like this bit is sorted now...don't want to out myself but it was a bit of paperwork that I was assured the vendor and estate agents had a copy of and based my offer on seeing it. When it transpired there was no such paperwork available, they had to get another / new version. All sorted now hopefully. Now onto the next stage!

Sorry. I know. I just have solicitors and estate agents nagging me for something I've done already, quickly as requested, but not been paid for...
