Renovations - hire a builder or manage ourselves?

We’re planning on rennovating our house this summer and trying to decide if we should just get a builder in to manage the whole thing or do it ourselves. Has anyone done it before, pros and cons of both?

Builders do renovation work. Management can be done by a project manager, an architect or interior designer.
If you don’t hire sb to manage, you’ll need to manage the building company/individual trades yourselves.
How big is the project, how much experience/knowledge and time have you got?

As a construction manager, I've seen homeowners try with varying success to self-manage a project. It really depends on your experience and amount of time you have available. By their nature building projects are complex and an architect or project manager will keep an eagle eye out for common pitfalls that builders tend to overlook/cut out.
