How much to instal a sky lantern?

Our kitchen is dark ( it's a converted garage so has a flat roof and is long and thin. I am thinking of putting in a sky lantern for light. Has anyone done this and how much did it cost?

It will depend on whether the existing roof is strong enough to take the weight of a lantern, otherwise you might need strengthening work doing to the roof or a even a re-roof. Friends have had their house extended and couldn't have a pitched roof so flat with two lanterns. It looks great and the light inside is fabulous.

It's just a standard flat garage roof so may not be strong enough . I think I would need one lantern .. will speak to some builders and get a quote..

I think it will make a massive difference to the kitchen!

I'm thinking 5k including the lantern. Hope that's realistic!
