Relocating to Loughborough, help!

Hi, I am new to England (from Cork, Ireland) and having been living in Cambridge for the last 6 months. My husband has gotten a job in a school in Loughborough, and we will be moving there in the summer with our baby, currently 4 months old. It's very hard to know where to rent as we know nothing of the areas! At the moment it is just my husband working, and he is willing to commute up to 30 mins each way. Any suggestions of surrounding towns/villages? Anywhere to avoid? Seems to be nice places to rent in Glenfield, Hamilton, Humberstone, Birstall.... but don't know anything about them! Schools for the baby not an issue at the moment so at least that's one thing I don't need to worry about. Thanks for any advice!!

I'm from around that area originally and would say that Quorn, Wymeswold and Woodhouse Eaves are lovely villages about 15 minutes of Loughborough.

If you'd prefer a town, Ashby de la Zouch (where I'm from) is around 30 minutes away and is a lovely market town with lots to do for children and easy access to the M1 and M42.

DH is from there. Quite a nice place, and far more affordable than Cambridge.
Its quite convenient to get places (just off the M1).
I can also recommend the Premier Inn for you or guests, the bar is open until late (I think 2 am for residents) which helps after a long journey.
