Is there any way to find out how long searches take in a particular area?

If you are using a local solicitor they should know or ask the estate agents? Failing that ask the local authority.

The coal, environmental and water normally come back within 2 - 4 days, local searches can take a bit longer depending on the individual council, but usually back by about a week HTH x

It varies by area and by solicitors firm.

Some solicitors apply direct to the council for the local search (takes about 4/5 weeks in my area) and some use a search agent (takes about a fortnight in my area).
