The title says it all really. Asking for a friend who is moving from a Nottinghamshire market town and originally a Londoner (and found the market town too quiet in comparison to London). She is moving alone with children aged 3/7/13. All three will require in year transfers (I know........tricky.....but she has had to make the move out of London in order to get on the housing ladder as a single parent who has refused to accept she is ‘stuck’). Her requirements are decent schools. Nice safe community with good access to the city of Nottingham. So far she has identified Arnold and really liked West Bridgford (too expensive). Her budget is tight but could be shifted max to 165. She works full time so won’t really have time for mum groups etc so less important. Any tips appreciated. Thank you.

Sherwood? Though I don't know about schools, I think the primary is OK, but don't about secondaries.

We moved to Nottingham last year, also knew it from years ago, we really love it. We are in the City (Wilford) which is still a bit over your friends budget, due to West Bridgford effect, but have been very impressed with secondary schools.

I'm sure there will be something north of the river, the tram is brilliant for commuting if that works with her job. Sorry no specifics but just wanted to encourage her!
