I have a mortgage meeting booked for tomorrow and thanks to shifts at work haven’t had time to prepare. Apart from payslips / bank statements - what could they ask for? I want to have as much of the information to hand as possible but as a FTB I’ve never done this before. Eek! Thanks mumsnet

Proof of ID? Passport or photo driving licence plus utility bill/bank statement showing your current address.

Thanks - proof of address is one I hadn’t thought of!

It might not be necessary for an initial meeting but you'll certainly get asked for it along the line.

Some of the things I've been asked recently (although not all at the initial meeting);

  • details of outstanding amounts left on lease agreements/loans, also remaining payments.
  • planned retirement age.
  • source of funds/proof of deposit (def not initial meeting)
