Hi, anyone selling or buying close to York City Centre? Any feel for how the market is - selling quickly or hanging around? Looking for a period property 300k to 400k but not a lot available.

Hi! We are in a village outside york and about to go on the market. Looking for something within 2 miles of the city centre (pref 5 bedroom, absolute max £500k but preferably under £475). You're right, it's slim pickings BUT it does seem to be waking up - went to see a property last week but someone put an offer on that afternoon, likewise I rang about one I had bookmarked (didn't go the the open house as I thought it was a bit premature) and that had gone under offer the same day. I think we will see properties coming on to the market in the next few weeks.
Whereabouts are you looking?

Thanks for replying. We’re looking pretty much anywhere with walking distance of the station, so about a mile radius from the centre, but not prone to flooding. Would love an older terrace, but a 30’s semi with a garden would probably be more practical. I have a couple of dozen houses on my Rightmove list. As you say, some seem to be snapped up very quickly.
