Requesting rent refund

Not sure if this is the right place to post but here goes...daughter rents a flat, moved in two weeks ago. The place had been refurbished, very nice, not cheap. The day they moved in they realised straight away the fridge wasn't working, rang the agent to report it. Didn't hear anything back for a couple of days so rang again to be told they would send maintenance man to look (in the daytime while daughter at work). Didn't hear anything, rang again. They said he hadn't been able to get in as he had wrong key, would try again. Few days went by, she rang and they said a new one was needed and would be installed this wed (while daughter was away with work) she got back today, still no fridge. It's costed her money she can't afford having to buy lunches every day, buying stuff suitable to cook each day rather than batch cook etc, is it reasonable to expect some refund out of the first months rent to reflect this?

Perhaps the first thing to do is email the agents.
In it identify each call she made with the time and date, who she spoke to and what was said.
Then she has to justify any extra costs that she has incurred because of the fridge not working, with evidence of the costs, like receipts for food etc
This will produce a paper trail.
This will give her some leverage when asking for a rent rebate.

Thanks, I doubt she will have kept all the receipts but I'll advise her to keep track of all the calls and promises. She phoned the agent today to be told "the person dealing with it is out of the office until Monday" how convenient!

Demand landlord details, tell landlord how crap agents are.
