Co-Freeholder holding us up

I would be really grateful for any help and advice. My partner and I put an offer in on a ground floor maisonette 6 months ago, every thing is done and ready to go. . .

Except the co-freeholder has not signed the transfer deed and is being pretty difficult about it, turns out he wanted to buy the place and is annoyed that he missed out on it. I think this is the reason he is dragging his heels, hoping that we will drop out.

The issue is our mortgage offer runs out the end of this month (we cant extend it) and we do not want to have to pay for another survey and go through the whole application process again!

Would it be silly to complete and move in before the transfer deed has been signed? A friend of mine did this but my solicitor is really against the idea?

Has anyone had any similar experiences?

Thanks in advance

What does your solicitor suggest you should do? You are paying them to act for you and advise you.
