Kitchen extension- need all new units?

Hello all,
I am in the process of buying a new house. A similar house on the same street has (surprisingly- it's a conservation area) recently been granted planning permission to extend their kitchen. If possible, we would like to do the same. It would only be a small extension- a lean to roof kind of job extending by a few feet at one end.
This may be a stupid question, but would can we just add extra units into the new bit? Or is it likely that we'd need to replace all of it? We know who the kitchen supplier is, so it should be ok to purchase more.
Thanks!

Also, I guess we would definitely replace the whole floor!
