Bedroom Lighting – Inspiration please!

We’re nearing the end of the complete renovation of a 1960’s 3 bed house; the overall look is fairly contemporary.

I’m looking for idea’s for lighting in the bedrooms as an alternative to the standard pendant fitting with a shade. Any idea’s please?

At this stage (ie ceilings already plastered and painted), we can pretty much have anything except spotlights (which I wouldn’t choose in a bedroom anyway).

We’ve got a central ceiling light, 2 wall lights and bedside lamps. What I particularly like is having a switch by the bed (hotel style) so you don’t need to get up every time you need to turn a light on or off. If I was redoing it again, I’d wire the bedside lamp sockets on a separate circuit so that they can be put on with a single switch.
