How long does a dormer loft extension take?

We're in the stages of planning a dormer loft extension. It's pretty straightforward, bog standard dormer extension with en-suite, no planning required, might need a wall on the middle floor rearranged to accommodate stairs. How long did something like this take in your experience? TIA!

8 weeks not including painting and bathroom fitting. We waited 3 months for certificate of building compliance from the council. Although we didn’t need planning permission apparently it is good to have proof that what has been planned comes within the limits of permitted development. Then of course the builder has to fit you in their schedule!

Fab, that's really helpful, thanks! Did you have to move out?

Ours started yesterday and they say 7-8 weeks to do it (bog standard dormer with en suite and stairs coming up out of a bedroom below). We did book it in August and they moved us forward a month when someone dropped out.
Whether it takes that time frame or not remains to be seen but they are quick that’s for sure!!!
We haven’t moved out but we have basically moved all our upstairs belongings into the box room so they can make mess in the bedroom that the stairs are coming out of and store all their rubbish. We are sleeping in the spare room.
We also applied for a certificate of lawful intent as it was recommended by the architect (that took a few months to be approved).

You don't normally move out - especially if you get a 'tin hat'. My sister moved out for a few days at one point where it was snowing inside...
