Cold shower

Anyone able to help with a plumbing query?! My shower was leaking slightly from the where the hot water went into the mixer. Its a bar shower where you turn on one side, and set temperature on the other. Had a plumber out to fix the leak, he comes, says oh easy 2 minute job and replaces the valves. Brill, shower no longer leaking.

Go to have a shower some time later, no hot water comes out. Hot water in the rest of the house. No issue with boiler. Have got the plumber back (I'm not home - had a friend stay in) and he's now texted me to say it looks like the thermostat part on the shower has failed, and its probably cheaper to buy a new bar mixer.

There were no issues with the hot water supply pre the plumber replacing the valves, could he have caused this issue? Is there some special valve (technical term there) he should have used?

We had no hot water last week when our radiator was leaking - had to stop the leak and then DH restablised the boiler pressure up in the loft, I think

It’s not a hot water issue. We have hot water everywhere except the shower.

sorry think I mean washer, not valve. The plumber replaced the washers.

Maybe fitted the hot and cold the wrong way round

bar mixers are actually not very good. I don't know why. Even from a good brand they are cheaper and not as good as their round mixers.

Quite cheap to buy a new one, and it is most likely a standard size so easy to swap. No doubt it is exposed "surface mounted" so much easier to do than one that has to be hacked out from behind the tiles.
