Leaky toilet?

We live in a rented house. Last year the landlord and his cousin put in a new toilet as the seat broke on the old one and it was a proper old fashioned type- porcelain, cistern up on wall near ceiling etc. So they took it out and replaced the whole thing. Every so often I keep finding puddles of wee(?) or toilet water on the floor. I've accused dp of not aiming right but I am starting to wonder if the toilet is leaking because he would have to make serious efforts to make this mess! Today I've noticed yellowish water around where the seal is. Do you think it's leaking? The thing is that where the puddle is it doesn't seem to come straight from the toilet. It seems to start a bit away from it. Hope this post makes sense as I'm recovering from flu!

Are there any pipes or anything directly above where the puddles are?

Either way of thus keeps happening it's totally worth calling your landlord back in- they're responsible!

post some photos and tie kitchen roll round all the seals.

At night, or when the WC will not be used for some hours, stir food colouring down the pan, and a different colour into the cistern.

Water leaking from the cistern will be clean and clear, from the pan might not be. Pay extra attention to the joint where the porcelain spigot from the back of the pan joins the (probably plastic) soil pipe. A penny-pinching person might not have cleaned it and fitted a new connector with new plastic seals. (seen in this pic)

Thank you for taking the time to give me such good advice both of you. This is a picture of where I keep finding the leak

you mean in front of and around the pan?

I can't enlarge your pic as it is not a .jpg

Yes so in front of the bottom of the bowl (pan?) but it seems to start a bit away from it? It looks like there's a mark on the floor but it's a shadow.

try the food dye. There might be a crack.
