Anyone received compensation from mortgage company due to errors with completion?

Hi all
We experienced a series of quite substantial errors prior to completion, which were caused by the mortgage provider.
They have acknowledged they were at fault and are discussing compensation.
I just wondered if anyone has received financial compensation and what would be a reasonable amount? (There was no direct financial loss, but immense distress and anxiety caused by the error)
Thanks in advance.

From experience take what you can in terms if compensation from the bank and don't rely on the Ombudsman to line your pockets. We had an issue with Nationwide, incorrect advice (all recorded on taped lines etc) which left us £16k out of pocket. The ombudsman stated they're ruling could not put us in a more advantageous position than we should be, so we ended up with about £1k compensation out of the £16k we lost. Good luck.

Are you able to demonstrate that because of their mess ups you had such anxiety or depression that you couldn't work for a while or needed medication and counselling? Or some other actual consequences? Or did you just get pissed off, had a few sleepless nights, got frustrated with their lack of professionalism and then it got sorted? If the latter, then I doubt anyone would take your claim seriously.

I think if you're realistic about what you want then it's fine to complain. If there was no actual loss to you then it'll be a gesture of £50-100 I would think.
