Dear All,
My parter, our two year old and I live currently in Moseley (Birmingham) which we very much enjoy but for work reasons we are considering moving to Liverpool and found a house we liked in Carnatic road, close to Sefton Park, in a gated development. We know however very little about the area so your advice on this area (or others you would recommend) would be most welcome. He works in the city center and I would need easy access to the train station as I would still be commuting to Birmingham twice a week. Your thoughts are most welcome. Thank you,

This topic area tends to be used by people looking for DIY type advice.
You might do better going onto there is says Talk in big letters at the top, then scroll down to where it says 'Local' then putting Liverpool in the search box. You'll find the people in the know then Smile

Very nice area of Liverpool

Really nice round there

Sefton Park is glorious and you are not far from Penny Lane/Allerton or Aigburth for shops and bars etc. Its not quite like Moseley. Unlike Birmingham people use the city centre a lot more, it's smaller and more neighbourhoody.

Gated isn't really a very Liverpool kind of vibe really, you might miss out on the community feel a bit.

You can get the train to Lime Street from Mossley Hill Station, or walk to St Michaels or Aigburth in 20 mins and get the Northern Line. I did a Brum Liverpool commute for a while.

What are your needs re schools etc?

That's the student area of Liverpool too. There are halls of residence on Carnatic Road and a lot move out to houses around the area.

thank you very much for your replies. I would be looking for a nursery for a 2 year old and not too long from now for a primary school. How did you find the commute HolyShet? I was thinking that walking to mossley hill and from there getting the train to southparkway and change there to birmingham, does this sound reasonable?

Found the commute not bad tbh, the trains are not crammed, it's about an hour and a half.I suppose it will be 2 hours all in but if its only a couple of days pw or you do the odd stopover it's definitely doable for a while at least.

You'd probably be in catchment for Sudley primary or Liverpool College. Both excellent. Secondary's more of a mixed bag.
