Friends, your experiences with different worktops. Am considering staying with laminate but want a really good quality one that lasts. My current one is ten plus years old and brilliant condition, but the whole kitchen is coming out and being redone and the supplier of this worktop has disappeared and I cant remember the name.
Please be honest - good and bad experiences with everything (except granite, I just dont like it)

I asked a lot of people about laminate when thinking about my kitchen. The response I got a lot of the time was that it has changed in the last few years from having a thick and durable layer on the outside to having a far thinner and more easily damaged one. I don't know if there are brands that are exceptions to this, however.

I was going with laminate as thought real wood was too expensive but have found a number of websites doing it much cheaper than B &Q etc = it takes looking after I know but looks fab. The one I am looking at is worktops express.
