My dh came up with a fabulous idea last night about what to do with our teeny tiny porch. We currently have a side extension which we are planning to rebuild and make longer both front and back. He said we should brick up the current front door position, and move it across to the side extension. At first I was a bit unsure, and felt it might look a bit odd, but we discussed it and think we could do a nice wood frame porch over it and it would look like it was a proper front door.
I have read we don't need planning for this, just building consent, but of course we will speak to our planning office about it when we have drawn up something a little better than the current rough sketch I did last night after a few drinks ;)
Has anyone done this sort of thing? If so, do you have any before and after pics you might be able to share (non outing ones of course). Thank you!
