Mould on wall behind wardrobe

The bedroom has been smelling damp so I mi Ed the wardrobe to find mound growing on the back. Small patch of mound on the wall in the corner (external wall). I'm pretty sure it isn't a damp issue as it is at floor level.
Will leaving a bit of a gap between wall and wardrobe prevent it reoccurring?

It could be damp but the best way to tell is treat the patch of mould and then yes, leave a gap so that air can reach the wall and make sure you open the window in the room every day. If the mould comes back then maybe get someone in to have a look at what is causing it.

I just can't imagine where damp could be coming from. There is no obvious source of damp externally eg leaky down pipe. and it isn't coming from above.

Quit common, lack of air circulation and possibly not enough heat in general. The air behind will be sitting cold and damp all the time therefore very humid.
Make sure the house isn't humid in general, fans used in kitchen bathroom no drying washing, ventilate Daly and all the usual. And improve air circulation as above

It's coming from condensation. It often happens when furniture is up against external walls in particular. It will only be on the surface so clean it up and maybe get a dehumidifier.

Exact same thing happened in our back bedroom. We had to redecorate because the wall paper was ruined. For us definitely a condensation issue, we now have a dehumidifier running and I'm amazed at the amount of water it collects.

Where is your dehumidifier! Is it plugged. Into the wardrobe?

Put it ideally in the same room but if you have a source of moisture you can't control then near that would be better

These are very good but will be too noisy to run overnight in a bedroom and cost a bit in electricity too.we run ours where we dry laundry for 6-8hrs or so.

Which can sit behind the wardrobe and should absorb moisture that gets trapped there. I would try this cheap option first tbh as it's likely to be low levels of moisture just building up over time.

As others have said it is most likely to be condensation caused by lack of circulating air on a cold external wall.

If possible move the wardrobe to an internal wall and leave gaps behind any furniture up against external walls (not easy dependent on room size I know).

There is a good chance that rearranging the furniture and ventilating the room well will cure the problem without needing to buy a dehumidifier.
