Skirting board issues!

Hello all!
Looking for a little advice to fix current skirting board. Could it be fixed? I currently have 0 money to replace the whole skirting board and it’s causing a huge draft in the living room as it’s at the front of the house. Thanks in advance!

Excuse the mess of it all, we have only recently moved in and doing the house up

I'd try filling the gap with filler and smooth it over so it's flush with the wall then you can replace the skirting board when you need to.

expanding foam will do. Cover the floor and surrounding wall for at least a yard in all directions, and equip yourself with at least a dozen pairs of disposable plastic gloves.

you will be amazed at how it spreads and how sticky it is.

It also sticks to skin, hair, eyeballs, clothes, shoes, the soles of your feet, carpet and glass.

Spray it with a mist of water to accelerate formation of a hard skin.

the next day you can trim it to fit, with a serrated knife. You can't trim it when soft and sticky.
