Double story extension

Hi
We have been planning a double story extension for a while. It will be at the back of the house extending two of the bedrooms, creating an ensuite and making a large kitchen/ family room downstairs.
Has anybody had any work like this done recently? If so how long did it take and how much did it cost? We should have the planning permission through by next week. I am hoping 125k will be enough am I being unrealistic? It would cost us much more to move and my ds is about to start school so would rather stay put.

I think your budget is about right. Ours is just about finishing and we started the day after August bank holiday

Yes, that should be enough depending on what type of finish you're looking at. We started in April and it took until the start of October - ours involved quite a lot of refiguring of space too and knocking down of original kitchen extension and garage.

We've just put in for planning for the same thing today so I'm following with interest!

We're hoping to build a similar extension so I'm watching with interest too...

We had a 2storey ext done 10 years ago and it cost about £85k

Can anyone tell me how long it took for the council to write to your neighbours after you put planning in? I'm conscious I need to speak to mine before they get the letter! Confused

Our neighbour had a single story done and that was 70k. I am not looking forward to the mess but very excited for end product

I think it was a couple of weeks after we put the application in.
