Unusual design choices...

We're house hunting and do sometimes find my attention distracted by unusual choices made by the current owners.
Just wondering what other people have seen and then found themselves wondering about...

My current list includes:
Wall radiator over the bath.
Small 1m long 10cm high wall in the middle of a lawn.
Full length mirror built into the bathroom.

Feature central light in living room made out of wooden wagon wheel

Quarter of a bedroom taken up by a built in cupboard housing only a boiler, placed diagonally in the middle. It might have been the same house where the owners had created a windowless dining room and put a curtain in place of the door.

We also viewed a house where one bedroom was being used for adult photography. The estate agent called to warn us and I assumed the box room was being used as a darkroom. Nope... one of the larger bedrooms was “panelled” with wooden planks to resemble a stable, and the floor strewn with hay Grin

We have a very large mirror in our (small) bathroom though, I didn’t realise it was odd!

A house where everything - yes everything - was pink.

A television mounted into the tiled wall at the foot of the bath.

Full length mirror built into the bathroom.

What is wrong with that? Makes the room feel lighter and bigger and you can look at yourself in a full length mirror

Sorry should have been clearer, the full length mirror was inside the shower (although as I'm currently still body conscious from 2 kids so am just a bit jealous)

But from the sounds of it, all mine are slightly dull compared to some Grin

Oooooh I bought the house that jack built so I have plenty Grin it was built in 1900 and it’s had loads of owners, none of whom have had any money to do it up or planned to stay here very long so everything has been done on the cheap/ bodged.

When we first moved in:
The damp, windowless, mouldy cellar was decorated as a child’s bedroom Hmm apparently the previous owners grandkids slept down there Confused

There was a hot water pipe that comes out of the floor in the middle
Of the kitchen and runs all the way to the edge and up the wall... not only a trip hazard, but it got really really hot if you had the heating on.

The upstairs bathroom was painted royal blue, and the bath and sink were avocado. The toilet for some reason was painted magenta but with wall paint, so it was all cracked and when you sat on the seat you ended up with pink paint chips on your bum.

None of the floors are even, so to even it up the previous owner put sawdust under their carpets Hmm

My personal favourite.. the previous couple who lived here were in their 70’s... there was a large mirror on the ceiling in the bedroom Grin

We looked at a house that had been nicely renovated with five big bedrooms. but in the renovations gave the house only a tiny windowless kitchen with room for just a microwave and a fridge. A sitting room you could fit a two seater sofa in and one, big, bathroom.
