So very pissed off. We have had our house on the market for 2 weeks, within the first week 3 viewings. The final viewing the estate agent warned may come in with a low offer, young couple first time buyers came and viewed said they loved it. Few days later their parents came and viewed and left, turned up 20 minutes later and offered us the full asking price as their daughter loved it so much. They told us the offer is conditional to cancelling all viewings we had booked and taking it off the market. Of course we accepted and have been waiting for a week for their solicitor details (estate agent chasing daily). After them ignoring everyone the dad called me today to say they aren’t going ahead as next door (where the is a huge field in between us) has applied for planning permission to build 6 houses on their land. It’s annoysd me the most as why not do research before viewing and offering and making us take our house off the market Angry also our property was the 6th they’ve viewed and have messed a lot of others around. Very annoying!

That's rubbish op but tbh I would probably view a house first and then decide if I wanted to do in-depth investigation on planning permission etc.

At least you only had to wait a week - and didn't have to go through the rigmarole of surveys and searches before it was flagged up.

Maybe next time only agree to take it off the market once solicitors details are in hand? Or not at all?

Good luck

Thanks! Yes I think we’re gling to do that if we get another offer, just annoying that the parents had already done some digging before hand as when they viewed where asking all sorts about the title deeds and things they had found, just wish they’d found that too before putting the offer in and getting our hopes up. It makes it worse as we really thought they were serious buyers as the parents where buying cash for the daughter that in the excitement of thingns have reserved a new build for £500 Blush I know we should’ve waited but you just hope things go to plan Sad
