Conservatory roof

Has anyone had their old upvc conservatory roof replaced and if so was it worth it?

Ours is freezing and I'd like to make better use of it without breaking the bank.

What a I really want is to knock it down and build all along the back it I can't justify the expense.

We have just had our polycarbonate replaced with a solid insulated roof and it's fantastic. It took less than a week and the end result is even better than we imagined. It is so much warmer (I have turned off one of the two radiators), I can hear myself think when it rains (was seriously noisy before), it's lighter and brighter and from outside it looks like part of the house rather than an add on. Wish we had done it when we moved in two years ago.

Cat thank you.

Was it expensive?
Am hoping no more than 5k.

We thought about £5k but it was double that, sorry. The company we used is a national one and advertises on TV - we might have been able to get a better deal If we had gone with someone smaller and local, but we liked the product and they proved reliable, professional, and did a really good job. It really has changed the way we can use the space - it's like having a brand new extension.

Good to know! I tried to get a quote from a big national but they wouldn't come unless both me and DH were going to be there so I told them to shove that!! Sad
