Do Damp Proof Paints Work?

You need to address the cause of the damp. Painting over it isn't the solution.

We used bathroom / damp proof paint on our bathroom ceiling when it was decorated 2 years ago and there's still zero mould in there. Every other ceiling in the upstairs of the house suffers from mould - I'm considering repainting them with the same paint! I can't remember which brand it was, sorry, but it would've been a pretty standard one.
So basically, imo - yes they do work.

But obviously we weren't painting over existing damp then - the whole ceiling had been replasteted so we were starting from scratch.
