Brighten Up dark living room

We are looking to brighten up our living room as it doesn't get a lot of natural light. Can often feel dull and soul destroying?

What are some tips, seeing the below pictures, to help brighten it up?

We are looking to get some light oak flooring and paint the fireplace a lighter color. Any other suggestions?

Apologies on the washing and toys.........

our house is painted white top to bottom so never have an issue with rooms looking dark.

Paint it a really light off-white and uselight-toned wood to warm it up.
Add a mirror or two to bounce some light around.
Use light wood venetian blinds rather than curtains so that when they are up you get the full width of the window.
Declutter, radically.

Mirrors and other shiny surfaces bounce light around a room. So lamps with metal bases and glass shades, reflective vases, candle holders, photo frames etc ( if you’re into those things!)
Don’t block any natural light with any furnishings or dark curtains.Lighten up dark sofas or chairs with light cushions, throws.
