Another place nearer in with cheap houses is Rochester. Nice town, good schools and easy to get tongue countryside. 45 minutes to Charing X. The other Medway towns like Strood and Chatham are fairly safe by London standards and very cheap housing wise but I would imagine are a bit like Luton.

That is exactly what am trying to avoid.
I want a total different life style compares to Luton.
I would like something in a mood of village life, country side with a cheap rent just looking for something cheap which is safe for kids am so much concern about my wife and 2 girls I want a safe place for them hopefully I won't be priced out with my demand 😁

There are lots of small towns and villages in Leicestershire that are affordable. Leicester itself is 1 hour 10 minutes from London. There are some nice parts of Leicester.

Grantham is nice. It truly is 65 mins from London on the train which is one of the reasons I'd be preapared to live there.

Blue lady, thank you for your contribution.
My wife love the area with few houses we have check on internet. They are cheap also it seems a very clean place.
We both agree to visit Grantham next month before we made final decision but so far we are happy with the price and the area as well
It looks like a small village.

Biggleswade? 45-60 mind on the train. Affordable housing.

Are your children really likely to travel to London that much, from Leicester an off peak return is £62

Febas · 24/01/2018 13:34

No, they don't travel to London in fact some years back I could remember we only go to London 2time a year just that sometimes they want us to go to O2 arena and few other places but not all the time but really what am much concern about is the safety of the area

I can't really help you with that. I guess the only way to find out is to go and have a look around.

Febas · 25/01/2018 19:02

Thank you blue lady. I will

The villages outside Lichfield Staffordshire will give you decent sized houses between £200-300k. Its 1 hour 20 mins to London on the fast train and 1hour 45 on the standard train.

Its a safe area with good schools.
