Has any one had cobbles and loose stone on their drive. Any thoughts or drawbacks on this type of drive

These are just examples

We have a large drive but still awkward to park two cars. I though smart cobbles 2-3m as a road barrier leading to a path of cobbles to the house. We would use the stone to park the cars and it would enhance drainage as we have a battered tarmac drive from the 1980s

I saw either the first picture or one very similar recently and really liked it but I don't think it'll suit our house but so wish it did as I think it's really nice

Our neighbours have had something similar and it looks lovely and in keeping, I'm not a fan of block paving unless you have a modern property and I'm not blown away by resin finishes

We have an old school, with gravel and dark grey block that we put in a year ago. Oddly I was after stone/cobble rather than block, however the block matched the blue lias stone front steps better and so went with that

Used gravel that is 2-4 cm in size to prevent animals although we do get the odd rabbit still!

The front drive entrance needs a sweep once a month

The front lawn edging is fairly flush to the grass but we don’t use that lawn often so that’s ok

Also for the garage block we had an extra front drain put in that stops the gravel dropping into it (photo is half way through that being built)

Overall the crunch of the gravel when arriving home makes up for any sweeping etc that is needed to keep it neat

That looks beautiful thank you for showing it to me. Definitely looking into it I'm just trying to find a designer now Smile
