Laminate help

Hey

I wonder if anyone can help. Our dining room and living room is separated by a large doorway but with no doors so basically two rooms combined. Living room has carpet and dining room laminate. We want to laminate the living room but can't really afford to do it all (to do it all would mean doing the kitchen and playroom also).

So here is my question. is there any way we can match up our existing laminate when buying so we don't have to do all of it or will it look ridiculous?

How long has the laminate been down? It changes colour a little over time, and in response to sunlight, so you may find that the laid stuff is actually a range of colours. I think your best bet might be to collect some samples and see if you can find a decent colour match.

If you can't, maybe you can use a deliberately different laminate? You will need a threshold between the rooms anyway, as you won't be able to join it seamlessly.

I know its not your question, but have you looked at LVT? It can be added on to other rooms as & when.

The only issue with LVT may be a budget one - it's a lot more expensive to buy and to lay than laminate.
