Roughly how much are they and when do you usually pay them?

Thanks Grin

While I was waiting for the survey to come back, I made a deposit of £300 so the solicitor could make a start on the searches. So, less than £300 I suppose, and it's the first thing you pay for usually.

Most solicitors can send a no obligation quote very quickly with all the fees itemised so why not just request one of those from a couple of firms, and then you'll know for sure?

Thank you.

We our mortgage application has been accepted today.
I've been abit overwhelmed Grin
Just been doing research on what we need to do next, which are the searches and was wondering how much they are roughly.

It's been abit of a blur today but I'm back in grown up mode and making a plan Wine

They can vary quite a lot - in my local area they're £115 for the standard package required by most mortgage lenders, in some areas they may be £250+ depending upon your requirements/requirements of your lender.

If you've not already instructed a solicitor you'll need to do so fairly swiftly, you'll be able to get quotes for their fees including searches from a few firms to compare. If you've already instructed a solicitor, they should make the costs very clear to you right from the off set and would usually ask for a payment on account.
