What's the best colour for a ceiling?

I'm re-painting my dining and living room ceilings. What specific colour white did you use? Are your skirting boards in the same shade paint?

I think you're overthinking it and I say that as someone with a very strong interest in interior design.

Whilst there are hundreds of whites, nobody could say anyway without seeing or knowing about the rest of your colour scheme. Plus the difference on a ceiling will be so minimal as to make no difference. The only time it will really impact is when you have a different white as one of the main colours in the rest of your scheme.

So for example I have Farrow and Ball Wimborne White on the walls in my downstairs loo. The ceiling is just a bog standard brilliant white and that is deliberate - to make the Wimborne White read more cream.

Pure matt white.

Dulux Timeless throughout. It goes with everything but isn't stark white.

I have Wimborne White on most of my ceilings too user - but as most of my walls are fairly dark, it just appears as a soft, slightly old fashioned white. I like it a lot.

I did the ceiling the same colour as walls for ease. Timeless upstairs and PBW downstairs.
